Install
Install Fleet as a desktop app on macOS, Windows or Linux, or from a terminal. Start it, update it, and what you need before your first session.
Fleet is free. You can install it as a desktop app or from a terminal. Both run the same Fleet and share the same sessions.
What you need
Section titled “What you need”- A harness. A harness is the coding tool that does the work in a session, such as OpenCode or Claude Code. Fleet doesn’t include one. If none is installed, Fleet opens a setup wizard the first time and shows Set up a harness on the dashboard. Choose a harness has the details for each one.
- Git. Each session works in its own git worktree, so Fleet runs
giton your machine.
You don’t need .NET or Node to run Fleet.
Desktop app
Section titled “Desktop app”Download the installer for your computer from the Fleet page.
| System | Download | First launch |
|---|---|---|
| macOS (Apple silicon) | .dmg |
macOS can’t verify the developer. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and choose Open Anyway. |
| Windows (x64 or Arm) | -setup.exe |
If SmartScreen says it protected your PC, choose More info → Run anyway. |
| Linux (x64) | .AppImage or .deb |
The AppImage needs FUSE 2 (libfuse2). |
The app starts Fleet for you and opens it in its own window. If a Fleet is already running on this computer, the app connects to that one instead, and quitting the app leaves it running.
While sessions are working, closing the window keeps Fleet running in the tray. Quit from the tray icon when you’re done.
From a terminal
Section titled “From a terminal”On macOS or Linux:
curl -fsSL https://github.com/pgermishuys/fleet-releases/releases/latest/download/install.sh | shOn Windows, in PowerShell:
irm https://github.com/pgermishuys/fleet-releases/releases/latest/download/install.ps1 | iexThe installer puts Fleet in ~/.weave/fleet and adds ~/.weave/fleet/bin to your PATH. On macOS and Linux it edits your shell profile, so open a new shell, or run this in the one you have:
export PATH="$HOME/.weave/fleet/bin:$PATH"Start it
Section titled “Start it”fleetFleet prints its address and serves it at http://127.0.0.1:6262. Open that in a browser. It doesn’t open one for you.
--port and --host change the address. Fleet listens on your own machine only (127.0.0.1) unless you ask for more.
Fleet keeps its sessions and settings in ~/.weave. Logs go elsewhere. See Where Fleet keeps data. The desktop app and the terminal command use the same folder, and only one Fleet can use it at a time.
Update
Section titled “Update”The desktop app checks for a new version after it starts and every few hours after that.
- Windows and the Linux AppImage download the update in the background and install it when you restart.
- macOS and the Linux
.debtell you a new version is out and link to it.
From a terminal:
fleet updatefleet versionfleet update runs the installer again and replaces the old version. fleet version prints the version you have, such as 0.57.0.
Where next
Section titled “Where next”- Your first session: start an agent on a small task and review what it changed.
- Choose a harness: install and sign in to the coding tool Fleet will run.
- Troubleshooting: unsigned installer warnings, a busy port and more.
